2nd International Staff Week 2023

From 15 to 19 May, the University of Novo mesto hosted the International Staff Week, welcoming more than 25 colleagues from Poland, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, North Macedonia and Turkey. Sabina Krsnik, Head of the International Office, noted that "our guests were experts from various fields, including nursing, physiotherapy and sports, as well as economics, information technology and other business and social sciences. This diversity of expertise and disciplines contributes to long-term improvements in institutional cooperation, the exchange of best practices, and the development of interdisciplinary approaches in joint research activities."

In addition to numerous individual lectures, the guests presented their culture, home institutions and professional work to our staff and students during an event called GoAbroad Journey. Before and after the presentations, participants enjoyed the GoAbroad Fair, which featured typical products and sweets from the visiting countries. Students and staff had the opportunity to taste international delicacies, explore brochures and speak directly with the guests, gaining first-hand information about Erasmus+ exchange opportunities.

As Lidija Getto, Head of the International Office at Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, stated, "International Staff Week is an excellent example of successfully discovering other universities and their best practices, as well as learning about the characteristics of Novo mesto, the Dolenjska region and Slovenia. The University of Novo mesto has been an outstanding host."

International Staff Week is especially important "for students who cannot go abroad, as it gives them an international experience they would not otherwise have," emphasised Prof. Dr. Karmen Erjavec, Vice-Rector for Research and International Cooperation.
