Adapted forms of career guidance assistance
for special groups of students
at the University of Novo Mesto

In the public tender "Strengthening the role of career centers in the holistic treatment of students", the purpose of which is to co-finance the further operation and upgrading of career centers of higher education institutions by promoting adapted forms of assistance to special groups of students, the University of Novo mesto obtained financial resources for the co-financing of the operation "Adapted forms of assistance career orientation for special groups of students of the University of Novo Mesto", which we briefly called POP-CAREER.
The purpose of the public tender:
• improving the responsiveness of the education system to the needs of the labor market and the related coordination of knowledge and expectations of young people.
Objectives:
• promoting comprehensive, high-quality career orientation throughout the entire study process from enrollment to employment,
• coordinating the acquired knowledge of students with the needs of the labor market,
• promotion of aid to special forms of aid to students.
The target group is young people (students, undergraduate and postgraduate students, graduates). In the overall consideration, greater emphasis will be placed during the project on a special group of students, including:
• students with special status,
• students with special needs,
• students in need, which can have a negative impact on their mental health,
• students who are subject to violence, which means interference with a person's physical and psychological integrity,
• students with care obligations,
• students with other personal circumstances,
• other non-traditional groups of students.
For the purpose of support, students will be actively involved in the implementation of the project, which will contribute to the acceptance and understanding of differences and awareness of the equal treatment of all students.
Results of the project POP CAREER:
→ Promotion of mutual relations based on the inclusion of diversity, understanding and coexistence with those who think differently as a pillar of a critical academic and wider social community with respect for human rights, with zero tolerance for discrimination and intolerance.
→ A strategic document that will regulate the system of recognition of special groups of students at the level of the University of Novo Mesto.
→ An instrument for identifying the specific needs and interests of students to facilitate the identification of special groups of students in the holistic treatment of career orientation.
→ An established network of institutions and experts from the local, national and international environment covering the field of work with young people with special needs / special groups of young people for the purpose of transferring knowledge, good practices and strengthening the competence of career counselors in the light of lifelong learning.
→ Transfer of knowledge between organizations and faculties that are members of the university and vice versa - cooperation of higher education institutions, business, non-business and students. The circle will help students make an easier transition to the labor market after completing their studies.
→ A rich program of content for students, which will be fully implemented in the existing services of the career center.
→ Raising the quality of the services of the career center of the University of Novo Mesto with an emphasis on the education of career advisors.
The operation contributes to the sustainability of the results, which will be continuously continued and used even after the completion of the "POP-CAREER" project.
